But JC, I still love Chocolate and Alcohol
If there's one thing that you need to understand it's the fact that changing your diet to a better more balanced one that will help youto lose weight and eventually live longer doesn't have to be a struggle.
It takes most people years to get to the stage of being obese, and even to the stage where they are carrying just a little too much bodyweight so you can't expect to reverse any long term habits overnight.

Even making a few small changes to your diet can have a dramatic effect on your weight when viewed over a longer period of time.

Just the reduction of a hundred or so calories a day will amount to a very large reduction in calories over the term of one year and that will also amount to a sizeable decrease in body fat.
This can be done by simply removing a small portion of the amount of food you consume with each meal.
If you find that this is causing more than normal hunger then have a glass of water a half hour or so before each meal and you will be less inclined to feel like you require more food.
You can replace a similar quantity of low value food with good food and this will also reduce hunger and will help to lose weight.
By doing it in this manner you will find that you will begin to enjoy the 'new' foods in your diet just as you learnt to enjoy the poor foods that you have been eating up to this stage of your life.
Many people find it hard to accept that they will be able to get the same enjoyment out of the food that they know they should be eating but that is only because they have been accustomed to the tastes of the food they eat at the current time.
A good example of this is the reaction people have to drinking a cup of tea with sugar in it after they have stopped having sugar for awhile. Most people find it difficult to drink as it seems too sweet after having been without it for some time.

Childhood Obesity - What can I do?
This past Mothers Day weekend Jeannie, Tristan and I went to Lousiana to spend the holiday with the rest of my Guidry family. We went to JellyStone park - lots of families and childrens celebrating and playing. During the course of the weekend I noticed something horribly scary. The obesity epidemic of children. Across the spectrum.
I feel really passionate about doing my part to help stop this childhood obesity from becoming the ‘trend’ that it has recently. I want to make a difference to the lives of our children - a better one.
What do I mean about trend? After this weekend I did some research
- Over 30% of our children are overweight or clinically obese
- By 2010 that number is predicted to increase to over 50% if we don't do anything.
As a parent (concerned parent at that!) myself, I was thinking about creating some sort of fitness program specificially for kids of all ages.
However, then I start thinking that what if I do this and then they go home to their parents where they are only offered processed, high fatty foods? All of my efforts would be abolished.
Then I start to think that maybe I should also be targeting the parents by doing some sort of nutrition class and/or even a seminar series to share ideas on how to organize your life to create more time towards making healthy meals. I could also talk about how to combat excuses towards exercise; the importance of role modeling; limiting beliefs; and how to attain an unstoppable attitude.
So this is where I’m at. I was hoping for your input.
What would you like to see in your own community to help stop the childhood obesity trend?
Please email me your thoughts, questions, etc : julescg@methodevolution.com

Can losing fat and weight help you feel 10 years younger?
From talking with many of my clients today it seems like most did their celebrations this past weekend. Which I completely understand - after all, who wants to wake up on a TUESDAY morning with a margarita hang over with a stomach filled with chips and fajitas and still have to be at the office before 9am!
I sure don't!!!
This past weekend Jeannie, Tristan and I spent time at her cousin's house in Bellville, Texas. A small, one, two or three light country town west and north of Katy, Texas (for those that don't know- I barely do!) Bellville had a fabulous little town celebration where a parade faired thru the center of town and celebrations continued within a few blocks and in the local park.
During our time there walking the streets and parade area...I could not help but notice the diverse characters that people held...some lean and thin, some heavy, some between, some keeping their youth - while others letting it go away.
In a talk of reflection about this with one of my new clients this morning; she asked me - "What are some of your thoughts and secrets to keeping that "youth"?" What a fabulous question! And with that I preseeded to tell her as David Letterman would say...my possible Top 10.

Yours in health (and youth!),

Its a choice to be fit and healthy
Exercise remains one of my top priorities. I fondly remember the days when I could train hard for 2 hours, but today I prefer to work hard for 20 minutes to 30 minuts and use the increase in energy and additional hour plus to work on other tasks - like running the areas most results proven weight loss and fitness business. And with this shift in priorities my most enjoyable workout is more intense, yet shorter.
Staying fit and healthy is a choice. We all have legitimate reasons to put off exercise, but we also have many more powerful reasons why we must exercise. Exercise allows us to be more productive, more vibrant, work more effectively, focus more clearly, have a better mental outlook, just to name a few. Develop your own compelling reasons why you make consistent exercise and quality nutrition consumption a part of who you are.
Below are some exercise fun ideas to help get you moving, in spite of the reasons we can't:
1. Dance to your favorite music in your living room. Invite your spouse and the kids to join in!
2. Pretend you're playing the biggest game of your life in your favorite sport - and play hard for 30 minutes!
3. Join a boot camp, or other group fitness program. They are a lot of fun and get you in shape fast.
4. Go in the backyard and play vigorously with your kids and the whole family gets a workout.
5. If you have kids under the age of four, put them in a jogging stroller and get in short jog before dinner.
6. And just because you're no longer 14 doesn't mean you cannot go swimming, ride a bike, or play your favorite sport! Tennis, racquetball, soccer, basketball, softball, volleyball, even golfing without the cart, are all great ways to get your exercise in.
If you have a reason not to exercise, I have the solution.
